Melbourne Critical Infrastructure Tour

Please join us on this tour of infrastructure critical to Victoria’s energy security – the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM), Newport Power Station, and Jemena’s Control Room.

At the BoM, delegates will have an opportunity to visit the National Operation Centre, and gain an understanding of how major weather events are forecasted and managed.

At Newport Power Station, delegates will gain an understanding of the intricate processes behind generating 500MW of electricity, right in the heart of Melbourne.

Following a casual lunch, delegates will then tour Jemena’s electricity and gas control rooms, before concluding the day with networking drinks.

*IMPORTANT: As we will be touring an active power station we require attendees to bring your own hard hat and safety glasses – a limited number are available on site but without correct PPE visitors will be refused entry. Long sleeved shirts and full length pants are required – no items of loose clothing. Sturdy enclosed shoes are to be worn, preferably steel cap boots.

Newport is an operating electrical power station with live electrical equipment. Access includes a number of flights of stairs with no wheelchair access. Please note for those uncomfortable with heights – the tour will include parts of the boiler house which has open mesh flooring on the upper levels.
